Snow holiday turns to an overseas Christmas feel in South Africa

It is rare to have snow in Africa and when it is available, waste no time. Snow has a bit of a surprise effect in countries like South Africa as it falls in a few areas of the country in a year.

Time to take advantage of that, as it is mostly prone to fall in the winter season, especially between June and July otherwise even during the course of the year there are times when Sno w falls and activities that are lined up for visitors. 

Several towns in the Eastern Cape are conducive to snow including Barkley East, Hogsback, Muclear, Ugie and Queenstown. 

Take for instance a place like Hogsback where most teams and groups of friends or family go there for fun, team building, or outing camps whatever the setup is, the experience is unique. 

Hogsback has a variety of activities to do during your stay. Some include horse riding, hiking, biking or a walk to the three-flat mountains known as Amatola mountains or the waterfalls, breathtaking views of natural vegetation including flower gardens, great landscapes, monkeys and horses.

Experience something similar to an early overseas Christmas in July in South Africa 

The place turns winter offers and activities turning winter into summer holidays. More like an overseas holiday experience, a snow kind of Christmas. It is important to book to participate in the Hogsback Winter celebration that takes place in July.  

The activities include a champagne breakfast, a competition for kids to make a snowman, coloring and other activities. Dinner is on the table, music on the mountain with popular musicians performing, games and tour guides are helpful to check for activities like skating and taking walks. 

Youth church groups or families and friends can have fun in the environment as it is friendly for the young and packed with activities. 

Enjoying snow whilst knowing that there is a fireplace and other warmers to keep you feeling fuzzy after the cold would require choosing an accommodation area that offers such.

There's an opportunity to enjoy to just chill and enjoy a braai in the cold or how about check if the area offers skating and doing snowballs and snow man of your choice is always on the cards. It is important to book early for the available activities that are conducive to such weather. 

Make sure to check for clothes that are suitable for the snow. They can be found in shops like the FBO and online clothing stores. That includes snow boots, jackets, gloves, scarves and other similar staff.
