A break from winter blues to hot destinations in South Africa
Story by Anele Zikali
Outdoor fun can still be had even in winter in South African! As winter blues are creeping in, some places get too cold whilst others maintain hot temperatures in the country; which is one of the things that make the rainbow nation interesting and a destination of choice for many travelers. Let's take a glimpse on just two of the hottest places during this season.
Limpopo
One of the hottest places in the country is Limpopo province. In particular places like Musina. The province is already well prepared for visitors with tourist attractions and accommodation so it makes it easier for people to find spots to stay and visit.
Diamond stones from Limpopo
As long as one of the primary reason was getting a good dose of warmth, a place like Musina is one of the most ideal choices. It is important to consider the place because some areas are reportedly cold and keep up with weather changes that have been impacted by climate change.
One of the good news about this province is that it is at the top of the safest places in South Africa. Keep in mind this statistic is compared to the present realities of quite rampant crime statistics. So this means safe precautions must be taken as a traveler anywhere in the country.
Tourists attractions
The areas is popular for boabab trees, where it is home to one of the largest in the country. The Musina nature reserve has a collection of boabab trees. There is also a very big and historical diamond mine. A tour and more about diamonds and a cool visit to the National Park and Nature reserve and beautiful rivers to explore in the area.
Northern Cape
Inland places in South Africa tend to have more hot temperatures than the coast. In particular towns like Upington in Northern Cape, deliver the heat if that is what you are looking for.

Planning to to family and friends or booking your place there, it is better to go in winter. That time the temperatures are not as high as compared to the scorching sun in the summer season where the weather often records the highest levels of heat country-wide.
Northern Cape also has one of the smallest populations which is ideal for people who would want a less crowded area. Places like this also need early transport arrangements because it can be limited to immediately getting a spot.
Similar to Limpopo, this province is one of the safest places in South Africa. This does not mean there is nothing to worry about, so safe precautions still have to be taken as a traveler anywhere in the country. Other warmer towns can be explored too with high temperatures in the province.
Tourist attractions
The Orange River offers a wide range of activities to do that include a boat cruise and fishing. Exploring food and wine. Home to vineyards, wine tasting is also available.
