Turn a simple park visit to an exciting hangout
Story written by Anele Zikali
We spend time visiting local parks and perhaps end up taking things for granted or even get bored by doing the obvious.
Instead of wasting our precious time complaining about boredom, how about a twist to the predictable.
After going to church every Easter weekend, doing the same things. This time an idea for an Easter themed picnic sounded like a good idea after the Friday main service.
Going around shopping for some decorative candy with the Easter bunny theme became difficult stores already ran out of stock on the day before Easter Friday.
Fortunately the remaining stock could still pull the trick. It was also a good excuse to indulge in some sweet delicacies, so the day would be enjoyed without feeling any guilty pleasures.
Bright and cool colors like lilac, lavender, light yellow and light blue, off-white, soft pink and rainbow with a touch of rich brown became the center of the color theme.
However, the idea in mind was to stick to keeping things simple whilst shopping, remember the theme and use what's already available at home.
It is proving to be true that colors can relax the mind. When everything was sorted out, displayed in the park. The colors just suited the theme very well and blended in the mood of the day.
The sweet snacks were the main decoration with meat and bread just to do away with feeling hungry. As well as fruit, red and green seedless grapes and small pale peaches.
The snacks included Easter eggs, a chocolate cake, large rainbow lollipops, chips, oreos, waffles, chocolate sweet wrappers, hearty sweets, small candy cupcakes and drinks.
It all ended with cool, sweet and simple fun. No pressure, just leisure. True happiness is within ourselves. Getting out of mundane tasks and bringing a simple touch that twists random things could be all that we need to avoid falling into indoor slump.
In such a day of course the children are the biggest winners as they indulged without limitations as well and had time to mingle with new peers in the park whilst roaming around for frequent snacking.
The churches also up the notch in Easters, with stage drama plays, musical activities and the egg hunt. It was an exciting day overall, you can follow us on social media platforms and share the stories.
