Enjoy winter holidays in Cape Town
Story by Anele Zikali
It is seasonal in Cape Town as winter is around the corner in South Africa from 25 June to August. It might be difficult to be outdoors in winter but Cape Town is not about staying gloomy and feeling winter blues. Instead here comes good times ahead.
Having enjoyed summer and now autumn in the beautiful tourist destination of choice for many travelers, the mother city does count winter destinations out and make them dull. It must be the coastline that aids in keeping winter weather quite enjoyable.
Fun in Winter Outdoor Tourist Sites
A short-lived stay still turned out well during the winter season in Cape Town. With the full view of Table Mountain and the Lions Head, going for a road drive to see the beautiful landscapes, there was no boredom. Cape Town is just the gift that keeps on giving, one adventure to another.
Hiking
A small hike on the well-stacked rock hills made even nonhikers feel like accomplished ones. It is the cool breeze and the sun with just warm clothes on that make winter easily enjoyable outdoors.
It does not need to be a formal hike you can just move around, tourist guides and shuttle drivers have more knowledge of such things. However, those who like things organized can look up groups and places that offer safe hiking zones.
Boat cruise to sunset on the beach
Boat cruise comes with drinks
One of the nicest things for a group outing whether with family, friends or co-workers is to book an evening boat cruise in winter, watch the sun go down whilst some pop champagne and dance to the rhythm.
Go with the flaw as city lights glimmer in beauty watching from afar on top of the waters. It can also turn out to be a lucky day if the crew sees some sea animals dancing. The morning cruise is advised for hot seasons.
Beach walk
What is Cape Town without the beach? Beach lovers will tell you that you do not need to get in the water to enjoy water. It is just being in its presence that is intoxicating, the views, and relaxation. Sun exposure doesn't fade in winter so there is still some dose of vitamin D to indulge in.
Grapes and Winelands
Just passing through the vineyards speaks volumes of what wine lovers can expect in the mother city. Some say wine keeps them warm, so being at the home of winemakers from the ground up must be a call for jubilee.
There are so many ranges to choose from. Be it according to taste, or smell, even nonalcoholic wines come in handy for those who don't Rink but can still tag along with people who do not drink.
Either you get unmatched great juicy grapes like no other in the country only in Cape Town or you bring some on your way home, they sell at lower prices compared to normal retail prices.

Accommodation and flight booking are not difficult to acquire as there are many offers in relevant spots. The same goes for food, it is not far from outlets and most hotels offer meals. Guest houses are nearby restaurants and delivery services are easily accessible most of the time.
The winter is surely not gloomy after all it can be bloomy depending on where you are in the country. There are also many events in Cape Town so looking at the calendar before going can help to also attend some of the interesting events like jazz, sport, theater, Robben Island, and Madiba tour. You just have to book ahead for such events.
Not to forget but there are even weddings in winter in Cape Town without hustling the weather. Some days do get messy however as long as you keep tabs on weather updates to avoid hectic times like floods and wild fires.
